Slaystans
Collective joining the co-curated day programme.
Slaystans is a queer-feminist collective for and by the Central Asian diaspora, its associates, and allies in Berlin. Slaystans began as a response to queerphobia within our ethnic communities and the fetishization we experience within the larger Berlin LGBTQIA+ scene, to create a space where we can dance, laugh, breath, talk, feel a little easier. Blending traditional and cultural sounds with heavy electronic beats is what our very own DJs are known and celebrated for from underground self-organized venues to even festival stages around the world. Just this year we have organized a multi-day, multi-format and multi-vocal art festival featuring marginalized artists and performers from Central and North Asia and the Caucasus region. As a collective we are also proud to have participated for the fourth time in a row in Berlin’s Internationalist Queer Pride where we always highlight the specificity of our communities’ struggles in the broader context of and in solidarity with global fights for freedom, self-determination and justice.
