TKASHMAPA

15:00 – 21:00 — KAMINZIMMER

TKASHMAPA

Tkashmapa is a photo project that will be represented with photo prints and installations in the exhibition space. It tries to raise awareness about the stereotypes and pressure on women in the society. The reality of the major masculin society is demonizing the sex worker women and especially the transgender sex workers, whereas the men can treat their bodies as they will.

The story is based on the Georgian legend of Tkashmapa who was a demon woman just because she was living freely in the forest. One of the Gods, Ochokochi falls in love with her but because Tkashmapa still prefers the freedom she’s been killed by him. The artist tries to bring some parralells between this specific legend and transgender women’s life in nowdays Georgia.

At the same time the project talks about the ecological problems that humanity is facing right now. As the legend is born and takes place in pure nature, the artist brings Tkashmapa blended in Soviet apartments with the fake printed nature pictures in the back as if the space for the mythologies has already gone. As the whole forests are mostly cut or occupied the mythology finds its place in the living blocks. Project was created in 2021
